Safety Measures for Wayne County Sports Events

Organizers of sports events in Wayne County take special safety measures to ensure the safety of spectators and participants. Metal detectors and wands are used to prevent attendees from carrying weapons into stadiums and gyms. In some cases, spectators are required to wear transparent bags to enter events. The Florida Duval County school district, which experienced a fatality at a football game last year and another injury outside a game in May, has implemented earlier start times for college football games and prohibited certain types of clothing.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has established regulations for aircrafts taking off from high-class transport powered by turbine engines. The weight of the aircraft on arrival must not exceed the landing weight indicated in the aircraft's Flight Manual for lifting the destination or alternative airport and the expected ambient temperature at the time of landing. The FAA may issue special flight authorizations for foreign civil aircraft with conditions and limitations deemed necessary for safe operation in the U. S.

Affected aircraft operators may request special flight authorizations for purposes such as obtaining modifications to meet noise levels of Stages 3, 4 or Stage 5.Requests must be submitted to the FAA Office of Environment and Energy. Requests for special flight authorizations that exceed Mach 1 must be submitted to the FAA Office of Environment and Energy for consideration by the Administrator. The Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Office for Emergency Management recommend that districts include sporting events in their emergency operations plans. The FAA requires that pilots sitting at the controls, other than those being inspected, must be fully qualified to act as pilot in command of an aircraft used for a flight test, to obtain an air transport pilot certificate or a class or type classification in that certificate, or for a part 121 aptitude flight test. The aircraft must comply with aircraft type certification provisions of the transport category, including certification requirements for flying in icy conditions. Operators of phase 2 aircraft that need to operate in neighboring U. states may request special flight authorization from the FAA Office of Environment and Energy. Special flights may also be performed without charge, evaluation or fee being charged for transportation; to train flight crew members in a special-purpose operation; or to obtain modifications to meet noise levels. In addition, operators who have installed approved flight recorders and approved cockpit voice recorders must keep recorded information for at least 60 days or, if requested by the Administrator or the Board, for a longer period.
